Every time you re-decide your schedule, you lose. I know that sounds strange. Here's what I found: producers who close consistently every month don't have more discipline than you. They have fewer decisions. One structure, set once, running the same way every single week, regardless of how Monday morning feels. I call it SWET. Same Way Every Time.
I want you to hear this. I don't have more discipline or more drive than you. If you're in this business, you're already disciplined. You get up about the same time. You do about the same things. Disciplines are already running in your life. The challenge is that so much of what we do is reactive. Mine was too, for a long time.
It Felt Restrictive. It Was Actually Freedom.
About 10 or 11 years ago, I had a 19-year-old barista named Jolayah join me. She became one of the best things that happened to my business in that season, and she's the one who started managing my calendar. I'm a high I-D on the DISC assessment. Great at relationships, driven by tasks, not steady, terrible at details. I've gotten better.
When she first started managing my calendar, I resisted hard. "No, you can't do that. It feels too restrictive. I want to stay free-flowing, loose, have conversations." What I came to realize: a livable, same way every time calendar isn't restrictive. It's actually freedom.
Predictability doesn't happen with randomness. It happens by doing the most effective things the same way every time. Not perfectly. Progress is greater than perfection, that's our brand symbol. But consistently.
You Won't Even Wonder What Monday Looks Like
Half of you are waking up in the middle of the night stressed, remembering something you forgot to do. I used to do that too. A predictable producer doesn't wake up wondering what Monday holds. You flip open your calendar and it's already there. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, same thing.
This industry is intoxicated with your busyness. Your manager, your company, the agent, the title rep, the underwriter, they'll all fill every open hour you give them. A predictable producer wakes up and already knows what Monday looks like, because the week was built with intention, not handed to whoever asked first.
The order isn't arbitrary. Monday flows naturally off the weekend. Tuesday flows off Monday. Wednesday is the biggest flex day, sphere of influence and database work. Thursday gets ahead of the weekend, when most offers get made. Friday is either going deeper into prospecting or working on the business itself, depending on where my pipeline stands.
"You've got a lot of the right activity moving in the right direction. It's in the wrong order."
You're Not Burned Out. You're Depleted.
A friend of mine named something for me that had been sitting unidentified for a long time. I'd describe myself as burned out, exhausted, tired. He said, that's not what it is. And when he named it, something broke open in me.
Burnout means a three-day vacation and a nap fix you. If you do those things and you still feel the same way, you're not burned out. You're depleted. That's a different problem entirely, and it's the one I dig into on Day 4 of the Challenge.
Some of you are running the kids, running the household, doing your absolute best to hold it together while closing a couple of deals a month with big emotional swings and a business that feels like a roller coaster. I believe I was called to build this for you, the same way it helped me get off that exact cycle.
Build the Calendar Around Your Actual Life
I was working with a friend who's a single mom. Her goal was a solid number, real production. She told me, "Steve, I pick my kids up every day around 2:30." I said, let's build the calendar around that.
When you have the right order, everything else works. A lot of us were taught that you have to work nine to five, or fifteen hours a day, to make it in this business. I believed that lie too. You don't have to. The SWET week gets you the production without requiring you to sacrifice the parts of your life that matter most.
Day 4 of the 5-Day Challenge: Build Your SWET Calendar.
You'll build your actual weekly schedule around your real life, the same structure that turned my chaos into a week I don't have to re-decide every Monday.
Start the Challenge. $297 ›You have a choice. You either choose chaos, or you choose a predictable, livable week that serves you, your family, your energy, your focus, and the people you're called to serve. Your calendar drives all of it.
